** UPDATE 28May07 - I've received some e-mails about a SynthPop is Dead sequel. I will definitely not do a sequel, as that would be an insult to the first, which is already a classic masterpiece. I may have missed some bands (Alphaville, Cause Effect), but you get the idea. They all sound the same anyway. My next video will focus on a very specific member of a very specific band. That's all I can say for now. It's coming soon.. ** UPDATE 21May07 - You people are nuts!! To those of you who requested an MP3 of the track, you can find it at: http://www.myspace.com/SynthPo... I was bored this weekend and had an idea for a toungue-in-cheek " untribute to SynthPop. I love SynthPop but there are harsh realities the genre is facing, lol. At first, I was just going to record a 1 minute song without vocals but the idea got the better of me and I ended up writing a song and doing vocals, mixing, using lots of photos, etc. I would like to give credit to the local bands in this piece: 1) Brand New Idol - An electronic band I used to be in. Our music was really cool and flirted w/ various styles, but in the end I felt like I couldn't commit to it anymore. They're still together and working on great things and pushing the genre outside its current envelope. You can find them on MySpace and they have a show on Memorial Day Weekend 2007 in CT. 2) Cosmicity - Another unsigned act that I enjoyed for a few years, but they disbanded. They had really nice melodies. 3) The Mystic Underground - A band we used to play shows with here there. They're still together as of 2006. You can find them on MySpace as well. They're definitely improving with time. 4) Platform One - Nigel's Goth-esque band before he joined Brand New Idol. You can still find Platform One songs on My*Space. Technical/Nerd Notes: * Arrangement, lyrics, and all vocals by myself * Photos courtesy of the information superhighway! I know I suck, but please feel free to tell me I suck anyway! -Me

Awesome video man! I myself, not because I dj, really enjoy Synthpop just as much as I do my entire collection of Industrial/gothic music. Regardless of weither people say it's dead or alive it's still great to listen to. This song is right up there as well!! HAHA you did an awesome job with this! ~DJ Dark Cloud

Hiphop used to be synth based in early 80s. There were only analog synths before, not digital. Roland TR-808 drum machine, Juno 60, etc are analog and used in all old hiphop tracks. ie Electric Funk. For example, DJ Afrika Bambaataa the godfather of hiphop used to play Gary Numan-Cars. Today there is a big division. But in fact, hiphop DJs were welcoming synthpop in the early 80s, as long as it had a groove. Even original techno from America and hiphop were together before. Now its all divided.

Totaly agree with you DeLe1000 This video was made by some stupid neo-nazi trailer trash backwoods bucktooth cousin fucking jock washout. And I see u blocked that comment saying hip hop is dead. Its true hip hop lost its meaning around 2003. And barely anyone likes emo stuff. Synth pop is classic thats whay DeLe1000 said its immortal. Learn to enjoy the classics you closet case fuck.

esos anuncios de que el synthpop esta muerto son un insulto al intelecto musical, porque insultan a genios como kraftwerk, jean michelle jarre, depeche mode, camouflage. etc
